- ➤ The national inventory shows Iowa had nearly 24,000 bridges in 2024 with 23% in poor, 42% in fair and 35% in good condition. Jim Nelson from the Iowa DOT said most bridges, built in the 1950s, 60s, 70s and earlier, need repair with over 100 projects underway+more repairs expected as aging continues. KCCI
- ➤ At a recent Polk County Board of Supervisors public hearing, an upset Ankeny man held a mailed two‐page notice showing a hypothetical 10 percent tax increase for a $100,000 home and learned his property taxes would not rise by 6.7 percent.
