- ➤ Egg producer Versova donated more than 280,000 eggs to the Food Bank of Iowa Tuesday as part of the Great American Egg Drive (the donation comes ahead of Easter and Passover to support families facing food insecurity). KCCI
- ➤ A baby chick rescued near Saylorville Dam was brought to Second Chance Ranch for special care. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa comforted the young bird by placing it under feather dusters in a heat lamp enclosure. KCCI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Erin Schneider has been appointed to fill the open at-large seat on the school board after Roxanne Petersen resigned; she was sworn in last night (she serves as DMACC's Dean for Student Success) and will serve until the next election in 2027. KCCI
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Strong thunderstorms passed through the area Monday night with heavy rain, wind gusts, and hail affecting a stretch between Highway 30 and Interstate 80. Ankeny recorded 1.56 inches of rain while nearby cities also saw notable rainfall. KCCI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lawmakers approved a plan to permanently expand the Iowa Child Care Assistance program — helping child care workers cover costs for their own families — and the bill now moves to the governor’s desk to address staffing shortages. FOX 17
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ MercyOne is offering free mammograms with muffins and coffee to low-income women over 40 (with no history of lumps) on Saturday, April 11. The event will take place at three metro sites, including 800 E. 1st St., Suite 1100 in Ankeny, with appointments available from 7:30 a.m. to noon. KCCI
