- ➤ On Tuesday morning, an Iowa Senate judiciary subcommittee unanimously moved a bill that would lower the age to purchase, own, and carry a handgun from 21 to 18. The Iowa House passed the measure 79—18 last week and it must clear the Senate Judiciary committee by Friday, April 4 to become law. WHO 13
- ➤ A special census in 2024 showed Ankeny's population grew to 76,207, making it Iowa's fifth-largest city as 8,000 new residents moved in since 2020. Interim city manager Mike Schrock said the city will receive an extra $1.2 million each year through 2030 for road maintenance and snowplow purchases—funds vital for supporting the town's growth.
