GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A resolution passed on April 22 approved an agreement with Langley Production Inc. to allow the reality show COPS to partner with the Polk County Sheriff's Office — a move that some residents opposed, saying the show might ridicule people on their worst day. KCCI
- ➤ Polk County Supervisors approved a severance deal for medical examiner Dr. Rory Deol, hired in December 2024, with a payout of $131,097.69 that covers his work until June 20. They also approved a plan to shift some county duties to the State Medical Examiner's Office to cut costs—though Supervisor Angela Connolly said the change would raise autopsy costs by $5,000 per case—and the agreement now awaits state review.
