- ➤ Animal Rescue League of Iowa is hosting a superhero-themed adoption event to find homes for 900 animals by the end of August. The event offers a reduced fee of $25 for cats and dogs (6 months and older) and each adopted pet is spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, with the promotion ending Sunday. KCCI
- ➤ Animal Rescue League of Iowa provided free pet food through its 'Kibbles for a Cause' drive over the past two weeks, partnering with five nonprofits including DMARC, Meals on Wheels, and the Pet Project—designed to help pet owners feed their pets at no cost. Pet owners in need could pick up food at designated sites and organizers said they will host the event every summer—offering ongoing support for pet families. KCCI

- ➤ The Bacon Box is preparing double-bacon-cheeseburger balls for the Iowa State Fair by having a team of seven senior ladies make cheese-stuffed meatballs and pecan pies at a catering kitchen outside Colfax. The stand will open on August 7th across from the Grandstand — near the Varied Industries Building — where fairgoers can sample the new treats. WHO 13
