CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 2-month-old infant died in Polk County after being struck multiple times by Dylan James Brown, who was arrested earlier this month on charges of child endangerment causing serious injury, domestic abuse assault and willful injury — deputies said they will work with the Polk County Attorney’s Office to possibly enhance the charges. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Public schools in Iowa, including Ankeny, will start classes on Monday, Aug 25 with a new law that bans personal cell phones and other devices during class time. Governor Reynolds signed House File 782 earlier this year and students must leave non-issued devices in a caddy—exceptions apply for certain cases. KCCI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Kim Reynolds will travel to Ireland from Thursday through Saturday and attend the Aer Lingus College Football Classic on Saturday at 11 a.m.—she will also speak at the One Health and Ag Tech Summit on Friday after touring Lyons Farm and joining a welcome reception at Dublin City Hall. Iowa First Gentleman Kevin Reynolds will moderate a panel at the summit. KCCI

- ➤ Thousands of Iowa State Cyclone fans left Des Moines yesterday for Dublin to watch the team play its first game overseas— they will face Kansas State at 11 a.m. Saturday. KCCI
