- ➤ DOT data shows teen drivers aged 14—19 have been involved in more than 65,815 crashes with 300 fatalities since 2020 and as students head back to school next week the state expects more accidents—especially at uncontrolled intersections where tall corn blocks visibility—and urges teens to limit distractions and drive carefully. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ DART provided over 3.7 million rides in fiscal year 2025 with a nearly 7% increase from last year — record ridership during the Iowa State Fair helped boost numbers. Officials said they will present a new bus network strategy in September — a change planned to meet growing travel needs. KCCI
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Central Iowa bars including Magee's Irish Pub and Eatery and Whiskey River in Ankeny will host watch parties for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic on Saturday with the game expected to start at 11 a.m. Many venues will open early—serving breakfast items and Irish coffees to offer fans a taste of Dublin.
