Good morning, Ankeny. Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 24th of November.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • American Legion Post 232 delivered 450 holiday meals to veterans on Sunday morning during its 11th annual Holidays 4 Heros event. Community volunteers packed the meals and the sheriff’s office coordinated deliveries—relying on donations from sponsors like Fareway to support local veterans in need.  WHO 13

ECONOMY NEWS

  • China has cautiously stepped back into the U.S. soybean market as only 1 million metric tons have been bought so far of the 12 million metric ton pledge over November through January, boosting prices and farmer hopes. U.S. soybean exports may total around 17.9 million metric tons in 2025, far below recent years, and the White House is monitoring the deal closely (support is available for farmers if the pledge is not met).  KCCI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Iowans are waiting for LIHEAP heating assistance because federal funds for the 2026 fiscal year have not been received following the government shutdown that ended on November 12—officials said benefits will be released as soon as funding is available.  KCCI
