- ➤ A smoke alarm installed by the Ankeny Fire Department alerted a homeowner to a fire on the 500 block of SW Ash Drive at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, allowing the homeowner to evacuate safely and crews to arrive promptly to save two cats. KCCI
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Dave's Hot Chicken has drawn a huge crowd in Ankeny since it opened less than a week ago (located off Interstate 35 on Delaware Avenue). It offers a range of spice levels from no spice to reaper heat. KCCI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ankeny school district will unveil new baseball and softball fields for middle school at a hearing on Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. — the project is part of a $130 million bond passed in November and will be built on Southwest Cherry Street near Southview Middle School and Ankeny High. KCCI
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ ACA premium subsidies are set to expire Dec. 31, which will raise insurance premiums for millions including Ogden resident Sarah Bohlke whose cost will jump from $328 to $1,600. Lawmakers in Washington continue negotiations while she reaches out to Iowa’s congressional delegation for help. KCCI
