🌲 Environment
Des Moines Water Works ran its Fleur Drive facility at full capacity for over 66 days as high nitrate levels pushed the plant close to its design limits—COO Kyle Danley said the facility, which cleans up to 10 million gallons daily with eight nitrate removal tankers, would need 26 tankers if levels remain high, but adding more is not feasible due to excess wastewater concerns. Plans to expand other treatment plants and work with upstream partners may help lower nitrate levels before treatment resumes.
